Study Abroad- Mexico City 2011
Aside from casual travel with friends and family I had the opportunity of a lifetime to visit another country as a part of a study abroad program through Northern Kentucky University. Thanks to a very gracious donation, myself and 14 other classmates spent a week in Mexico City as a part of my Honors Business Cohort. We each stayed with a host family during our visit. We would begin everyday with class at the local YMCA university then travel to local corporations and business. We were educated on the customs and traditions of the Mexican culture while also learning how their businesses operated. I learned invaluable lessons on how to be culture sensitive along with understanding human differences. I believe my time spent in Mexico helped me not only appreciate my friends and family back home, but more importantly, I gained a new respect for people of different cultures and traditions. I believe also that my ability to adapt to a different lifestyle and routine will also ultimately work to my advantage when it comes to adapting to new people and new work environments.
